Genie garage Door Troubleshooting: Two Problems

If your carport door runs by itself then that is a big problem obviously for a few reasons. It is very dangerous to any hapless children colse to or anyone for that matter, as carport doors can kill people or hurt them. To trouble shoot this issue (this is also called a phantom operation) with a Genie carport door:

First, check all of the staples on the wire from the power head to the wall control. These staples can disrupt wires or short them out. Also, staples can damage the insulation in the door. Put in a new wire if there is any damage or shorting out occurring in it.

If your remote control for the unit was misplaced or taken, then clear any codes for it from the memory of the receiver and agenda it correctly or re-set it. Be sure to gawk the controls on the wall and make sure that they aren't damaged or shorted out. If you see any of these two things happening, then setup a new wall control unit for good operation.

If the door comes down and then stops then starts to go back up, that is a huge problem on your hands. Here is what to do to fix that issue:

First check the force adjustment. If this isn't working right the door won't stay down and will go upwards.

After that, check the reverse contact. If this isn't working then a reversal of the door opening will occur as well. Finally, check the Stb ideas for any obstruction of the beam or miss-alignments of the lenses.
